Thixomolding е комерсиален SSM процес за леене под налягане на магнезиеви сплави (Decker and LeBeau, 2008). Както е показано на фиг. 7, процесът се състои от въвеждане на суровина от магнезиева сплав под формата на метални гранули при стайна температура в нагрят варел и винт на модифицирана машина за леене под налягане и след това повишаване на температурата на материала до полутвърдо състояние област при смесване с висока скорост на срязване. Полутвърдата суспензия, състояща се от почти сферични твърди частици, суспендирани в течна матрица, след това се инжектира в предварително загрята метална форма, за да се направи част с мрежеста форма. Подобно на вакуумното леене под налягане, този процес води до по-малка порьозност и подобрена якост на умора в сравнение с конвенционалното леене под налягане.

 

 

Възможността за тънка стена (0,5–1 mm) и сходството с процеса на леене под налягане на пластмаса са довели до успешни приложения на магнезиевото формоване Thxiomolding в компютърната и електронната промишленост (приложения за корпуси за мобилни телефони, камери и компютри).
