Magnesium alloy, an ideal material for lightweight car engine chain cover

In recent years, light materials such as aluminum and magnesium alloy are favored under the general trend of lightweight. Taishan Zhongmei Technology Co., Ltd. from China has successfully developed a new all-aluminum automobile engine cover by virtue of its leading edge in integrated aluminum alloy die casting technology.

The new bonnet is made mostly of aluminum alloy and uses Refilled Friction Stir Spot Welding to connect key parts. Compared with the traditional automobile engine cover, which is too heavy, the new all-aluminum automobile engine cover can effectively reduce the weight of the vehicle, reduce fuel consumption and improve the performance of the vehicle. The bonnet is made of magnesium alloy as a whole, and the key parts are connected by Refilled Friction Stir Spot Welding.

The lightweight car engine cover comprises an engine cover inner plate and an engine cover outer plate, and a hinge mounting position and a lock mounting position are arranged on the plate surface near the outer edge of the engine cover inner plate. Lightweight car engine cover, by using aluminum alloy as the engine cover inner plate material, reduce the weight of the engine cover, at the same time, omit the reinforcement plate, manufacturing and assembly process is simple, improve the installation accuracy, save development costs, improve fuel economy.

Car engine cover in general by the engine cover plate assembly and the engine cover plate, and the traditional engine cover plate assembly in general by the engine cover hinge on board, within the engine cover plate in the reinforcing plate and lock reinforcing plate, and the hinge hinge installed on reinforcing plate, the lock reinforcing plate installed on the lock, and between various pieces by welding in the form of fixed into a whole. The parts of the traditional engine cover inner plate subassembly are obtained by drawing and stamping the steel parts of the steel sheet, and the formation of the traditional engine cover subassembly needs to accumulate the manufacturing tolerances and welding tolerances of all the parts. The shortcomings are as follows:

1) The number of parts is large, the corresponding mold, fixture, fixture and other auxiliary equipment is large, processing and production is complex, production cost smell;

2) Combined welding of multiple pieces will affect the installation accuracy of engine cover accessories;

3) The weight of engine cover assembly is heavy, which is not conducive to the improvement of fuel economy.

 

The advantages of integrated die casting are very obvious, which can not only reduce the weight of the body, but also reduce the production cost.

As the weight reduction can greatly reduce the fuel consumption of vehicles, automotive lightweight is one of the trends in the development of the automobile industry under the background of energy conservation and emission reduction.
