Once the part has been designed, the next step is to design the mold. The mold is designed to produce the shape of the part and also to allow for the injection of molten metal. The mold is usually made of two parts – the cavity and the core. The cavity is the part of the mold that creates the outer shape of the part, while the core creates any internal features.

 

 

The mold is then created using a combination of CNC machining and electrical discharge machining (EDM). CNC machining is used to create the basic shape of the mold, while EDM is used to create the fine details and intricate features.

 

Once the mold is complete, it is tested to ensure that it can produce parts to the required specifications. The mold is mounted onto a die casting machine and molten metal is injected into the mold. The part is then cooled and ejected from the mold.

 

Creating a die casting mold requires a significant amount of skill and expertise. It is a complex process that involves designing the part, designing the mold, and manufacturing the mold using a combination of CNC machining and EDM. The mold is then tested to ensure that it can produce parts to the required specifications.
