With the gradual improvement of emission index of automobile tail gas, automobile lightweight becomes increasingly important. Automotive lightweight is the integration of the advantages of new material lightweight, advanced technology lightweight and structure lightweight, and is a system integration engineering combining various elements such as improving the performance of automobiles and reducing the quality of rectification. According to the Worldwide Aluminum report, fuel consumption can be reduced by 6% ~ 8% for every 10% reduction in automobile reconditioning mass. CO2 emissions can be reduced by about 5g/km for every 100kg reduction in reconditioning mass. For every 1kg aluminum and magnesium alloy products used in passenger cars, exhaust emissions can be reduced by 20kg during their service life. For every 10% reduction in the reassembly quality of new energy vehicles, the driving range can increase by 5.5% under pure electric operation. [2] Magnesium alloy has become the most widely used lightweight material in aerospace, transportation, electronics and other fields due to its low density, high specific strength and stiffness, and good shock absorption.

 

With the increase of market demand, the lightweight application and process research of magnesium alloy are becoming more and more mature. According to the analysis and verification of magnesium alloy material properties, the use of magnesium alloy instead of aluminum alloy can effectively reduce the 25% weight with the same performance.

The anti-collision beam is a necessary structure in the body structure, which plays a protective role in the front and rear of the body, mainly two longerons and beams. If the impact force exceeds a certain degree, the anti-collision beam will collapse and deformation, absorb the impact energy, in order to protect the cockpit.

 

The advantages of magnesium alloy as anti-collision beam are mainly reflected in two points. First, magnesium alloy is the lightest metal structure material, which can achieve lightweight. Second, it has high specific strength, superior damping and shock absorption performance. At the same time, when accidents happen, magnesium alloy anti-collision beam can absorb more energy, play a good impact resistance effect, and the metal memory with it can recover to a certain extent after deformation. So it has low carbon steel, engineering plastics and other materials incomparable performance advantages.
