To most people, a “drone” is a specific type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV): a multi-rotor or multi-rotor vehicle. As the name suggests, these machines fly with downward directed thrust via two or more motor-driven propellers.

How about magnesium alloys used in drone parts

New magnesium-based materials are ideal for future aircraft because they are so light that they could significantly increase the range of these vehicles. They exhibit very good castability, are easy to machine, and can be formed into profiles or forgings for use as components in next-generation aircraft structures. In the case of a large number of the same parts, magnesium alloy high pressure die casting is significantly better than aluminum alloy high pressure die casting. This is due to the lower solubility of iron in magnesium, resulting in significantly longer tool/casting life. In addition, the mold filling time for high pressure die casting of magnesium alloys is reduced by approximately 30%. This is because of the lower density: aluminum alloys are about 50% heavier than magnesium alloys, which is a significant disadvantage of aluminum alloys, especially in the aerospace industry.

構造材料としてのアルミニウム合金との競合において、マグネシウム合金は、密度が低く、強度比が高く、電磁シールド特性と鋳造性に優れているという利点があります。これらの結果、軽量、熱放散、電磁シールドが重要な 3C コンポーネント (コンピューター、通信、消費者向け製品) でマグネシウム合金が優先的に使用されます。また、自動車、航空宇宙、アウトドア スポーツなどの分野で非常に幅広い用途があります。

3C の高集積化により、電子部品や熱交換器の動作中に発生する過熱や変形による部品の故障の原因となる過剰な熱を除去することがより急務になっています。優れた放熱性と機械的特性を兼ね備えた材料の需要が急速に高まっています。コンポーネントの性能を最大限に引き出すには、適切な熱伝導率を持つ材料を選択することが非常に重要です。

Mg合金は、Al合金よりも熱容量が小さく放熱効果が高いため、放熱材料として大きな可能性を秘めています。過去数十年にわたって、マイクロ、ナノ、さらには分子スケールでの基本的な熱伝達を明確に理解して、Mg 合金の熱伝導率を向上させることに専念してきたいくつかの努力がありました。 

Zhongmei は、一般的に使用されている AZ91D マグネシウム合金と比較して熱伝導率を大幅に改善できる Mg 合金の開発を目指して、世界をリードする専門家である重慶大学の Pan Fusheng 教授と彼のチームと共同で、マグネシウム合金材料研究所を設立しました。
