Zhongmei thixomolding technology product application

    Date: 2022-12-30 Author:admin

thixomolding of magnesium alloy is considered as an advanced magnesium alloy processing technology in developed countries such as Europe, America, Japan and Taiwan. Its production of thin wall parts can reach the minimum wall thickness of 30-50mm, widely used in automobiles and 3C, UAV and other precision parts. In the United States alone, large thixomolding casting technology factories can produce tens of millions of levels of auto parts every year, with the weight of each casting as small as 10g and as large as 10kg, and the diameter of the largest can reach half a centimeter.

In the early 1970s, the idea of metal thixomolding forming was put forward by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology based on the rheological properties of strongly stirred thixomoldingified metals.

In 1989, DOW Chemical Company invented magnesium alloy thixoforming technology based on plastic injection.

Since 1991, HPM Corporation of the United States, JSW Corporation of Japan and HUSKY Corporation of Japan successively obtained authorization and began to develop and manufacture thixomolding magnesium alloy injection molding machines.

Zhongmei thixomolding technology product application is a new type of molding technology, which can be used in the production of small, complex parts. The technology is based on a liquid metal alloy that is injected into a mold, where it solidifies. This process allows for the production of parts with a high degree of complexity and accuracy.

The principle of thixomolding is to apply intense stirring in the liquid cooling process of the alloy, generally using mechanical stirring and electromagnetic stirring, the dendrite of the alloy is broken, and a suspension of a certain amount of spherical solid phase slurry is obtained for die casting.

There are two kinds of molding process:

① Rheological die casting

Rheological die casting first heats the raw ingot of the alloy to a state of liquid metal, then uses stirring technology to stir the metal to obtain a semi-solid slurry, and finally dies casting.

② Thixotropic die casting

Thixotropic die casting after the semi-solid slurry is obtained, the product is not die-cast, but the ingot is quenched to get the ingot. After the ingot is cooled, the ingot is cut into embryo, and then the embryo is reheated into semi-solid, and then the semi-solid embryo is die-cast by die casting machine.

The reason why thixomolding is widely used is that, in addition to expanding the opportunity to use die-cast parts, it is also because the castings obtained by thixomolding technology have high dimensional accuracy, excellent casting surface, easy surface treatment, porosity, shrinkage, shrinkage and other defects are reduced, and dense organization. The product can be heat treated and welded, which can protect the die casting mold and prolong the service life of the mold.

In the developed countries of Europe and America, the semi-solid die casting technology of aluminum and magnesium alloy has entered the mature stage.

Automotive parts such as hub, brake cylinder, steering knuckle, support control rod, cantilever, valve body and other high strength, high density, high reliability requirements of castings, can be  thixomolding with low cost to achieve mass production.

Zhongmei have 3 thixomolding machines and the technology 3C electrical appliance, UAV, telescope and other products are also widely used.
